JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Manga's Refined Oddball

Front Cover
Third Editions, Jan 15, 2022 - Comics & Graphic Novels - 328 pages
"Just like the manga series it analyzes, this book is hard to place in any one category. As both a portrait of an artist and a textual analysis of his work, it presents the story of how JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was created, looking at it through a critical lens. That's precisely what Frederico Anzalone, the author of this book, wanted this text to be: a hybrid, fully immersed in its subject. So, as you turn these pages, know what you're getting yourself into and let the words carry you away... While it may be impossible to label, this book has two major areas of focus: first, a deep dive into JoJo's Bizarre Adventure with a chronological analysis of each story arc; second, a zoom-out to examine Hirohiko Araki's work as a whole. This book is neither an encyclopedia nor an academic thesis on an iconic saga. Rather, it is a text in which the author, driven by his own analyses and ideas, relies on his extremely detailed research to shine a light on the mythical Araki and his fantastic creature, JoJo." --
